At Fox Animal Hospital, we’ve dedicated ourselves to providing compassionate, personalized, and comprehensive veterinary care to local pets. We want you and your beloved companion to enjoy your lives together for a very long time. That’s why we place such a strong emphasis on wellness services and preventative care, which includes pet vaccinations.
We recommend that all puppies and kittens have a vaccine protocol established as soon as possible to protect them from viruses and diseases. After conducting your pet’s wellness exam, we can customize a vaccination schedule that’s designed to meet their specific healthcare needs.
Here’s what a typical vaccine schedule looks like for puppies and kittens:
Puppy Vaccine Schedule:
- 8-9 weeks old - DAPP 1 of 3 and Bordetella (kennel cough)
- 11-12 weeks old - DAPP 2 of 3
- 16 weeks old - DAPP 3 of 3 and rabies
*DAPP = Distemper/Adenovirus/Parainfluenza/Parvovirus
The leptospirosis vaccine series is also recommended and usually started when your pet is old enough to be spayed or neutered.
Kitten Vaccine Schedule:
- 8-9 weeks old - FVRCP 1 of 3
- 11-12 weeks old - FVCRP 2 of 3
- 16 weeks old - FVCRP 3 of 3 and rabies
*FVRCP = Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis/Calicivirus/Panleukopenia
Keep in mind that our vets may recommend additional vaccines based on your pet’s lifestyle and risk of exposure. For example, if your cat will be spending time outside, it’s best for them to receive protection from feline leukemia. Also, if you have outdoor adventures with your dog like hiking in the woods, it’s recommended that they receive a vaccination for Lyme disease.
